SOLD Vintage Iida Model 240 Archtop Banjo
Price: $700.00 USD
For sale: my late 1970s/early 1980s, maple, Japanese-made Iida Model 240 archtop banjo. According to their catalogue specs, these were handmade banjos under the supervision of Teruo Iida. This was Iida’s top of the line during a time when Japanese banjos were in their heyday.
This banjo is in very good condition (not mint), with gold-plated metal that is in good condition with a small amount of aging with a new top frosted head, tailpiece and armrest. This banjo came with a new clamshell tailpiece and the original armrest which will be included. It has a very nice wreath pattern in MOP, beautiful maple neck and resonator, and wood marquetry binding.
No major wood problems or scratches, neck is straight, only slight fret and wood wear, and 2 small holes where a sliding 5th string capo was removed. This comes with the original case which is also in good condition. More pics of the pot assembly and tone ring can be viewed at my Society Hill Hangout home page.
Feel free to ask any questions and thanks for looking.
