1880s J.B.Schall Fretless Banjo-Needs Setup
Price: $495.00 USD
I'm kinda guessing on the 1880s, but based on the dowel stick extension through the pot at the tailpiece, the square bracket nuts, and the shoe mounting nut shape (I've never seen before and must be original) it appears to be an early build. The neck is straight with what looks to be MOP fret markers. There is a tiny bit of fretboard wear under first two fret's 1st and 2nd strings. There is zero neck angle and the action is too high for even nylon or gut strings. There are no cracks or chips on the neck; the finish shows some wear on the back of the neck. The head is beautiful!
This Schall is in remarkable condition regardless of its age and other than a possible neck reset and a nicer tailpiece, it will be ready to play.
I can send more detail pictures and I'm open to phone conversations.
