Currently set up with a tall 5th string nut to raise the 5th to the level of the other strings
Tuned to open “C” but these banjos will also tune comfortably down to open “A” with the stock medium strings, or to open “G” with nylgut minstrel strings.
Hoit uses solid Maple bridges. This banjo now has a 5/8” Ebony capped maple bridge.
Hoit Banjos, as well as other custom builders, very commonly use Tru Oil to finish the wood. This banjo was professionally refinished and sprayed using Bristol acrylic/polyurethane catalyzed clear finish to give the banjo a much brighter look and smoother feel. The neck and the pot have satin finish, and the peg head is gloss finish.
Embellishments; as to original 1851 Percival War United States, Large One Cent piece was placed in the head stock and an 1882 Indian-Head US, One Cent piece was used at the heal of the neck before the finish work. Both have been inlaid and finished out to the now smooth top-coat finish of the banjo.
Comes with New, On Stage Padded Gig-bag and New Perri’s Brown Suede Strap
