Sullivan-Allen walnut banjo
Price: $1,775.00 USD
This banjo is assembled with a Sullivan Festival walnut neck and the complete pot assembly taken from an Allen (small shop builder from Texas). The neck is a beautiful straight grain walnut with a very comfortable profile. The pot assembly has a traditional three-ply steam bent rim (likely a Cooperman rim), JLS tone ring, nickel plated one piece flange, and a very beautiful walnut resonator with inlaid leaves. I did use a brass shim between the neck heel and rim when assembling the banjo. I greatly prefer “shimming” rather than applying large amounts of force to the coordinator rods. The finish on the resonator has been rubbed with steel wool and sealed under two light coats of Mohawk pre-cat lacquer. The neck remains original with a high gloss lacquer finish. Banjo plays nicely and sounds great. It’s definitely a banjo that needs to be played to be fully appreciated. Playability and tone way beyond its price point. Happy to answer your questions and provide additional photos. No returns accepted.
