Gibson RB-4 Mastertone banjo from the Greg Rich era at Gibson. The best banjos get played a lot, and this one has been played a lot! The frets have been leveled and recrowned and are low. Plays great and sounds even better: the tone is somewhat warm and settled for a modern walnut banjo. The original lacquer finish has been buffed with steel wool and resealed under two light coats of Mohawk pre-cat satin lacquer. The metal parts are showing moderate patina and the j-hooks have been replaced (new parts sourced from Deering). Beautiful engraved tuning machines. Newer head installed. Original Gibson case in very good condition. Happy to answer your questions and provide additional photos. No returns accepted.
