Selman Tonemaster with Recording King Rim
Price: $1,475.00 USD
Something of an odd parts banjo that none the less plays and sounds great. The mahogany neck and possibly the mahogany resonator appear to have been crafted by Tim Selman out of West Virginia. This is my first interaction with Tim’s craftsmanship, but he did a very nice job. The rim appears to be from a Recording King. Most of the hardware is gold plated, though the coordinator rods are nickel plated, the clamshell tailpiece is unplated brass, and the T brackets are good spray painted nickel.
Strangely, a previous owner of the instrument framed the resonator lugs in wood around the sides. No idea why.
I recently had Bennie Boling at Huber Banjos fit the neck, as it had shims when I acquired it. Bennie is an asset to the banjo community and he did a great job.
Ships in a TKL flat lid hardshell case. Thanks for looking and please reach out with any questions.
