1983 Gibson RB-250 with original Three Ply Maple Rim
Price: $2,300.00 USD
This banjo came from the odd and seldom discussed era of Gibson Banjo production when Gibson began making instruments with three ply maple rims again, but before the “Greg Rich” era that came in the late 80s.
This is an ambiguous time for Gibson Serial numbers so I’m using some context clues on that year. If anyone has a better idea on what year this banjo was constructed, please tell me.
All hardware on this banjo appears original, save for a modern presto tailpiece and a mismatched T bracket. The flange is a two piece tube and plate construction. As usual on a style 250, it has a mahogany neck and resonator.
There are signs of use on the instrument, but overall it has held up pretty well. Oddly, the bottom part of the label where the town of manufacture would normally be written has been obscured.
The neck was recently set by Bennie Bolling at Huber Banjos.
Comes shipped in its original Gibson hardshell case.
This is a strong, balanced banjo that sounds particularly good.
Thanks for looking and please reach out with any questions.
