Grex by Kaspar Herde + Video
Price: 1,400.00 EUR ($1,630.04 USD)
Grex 5-string banjo built by Kaspar Herde in Germany around 1978/79 with hardware from the USA. The banjo has the typical warm, voluminous and resonant mahogany sound!
- Mahogany neck black lacquered - dark rosewood fingerboard - Gibson Florentine style inlays - maple 3ply rim - Flathead tonering - contemporary twopiece flange - Schaller tuners - new Remo head - Kershner style tailpiece - Deering light string set - Deering non tagged Smiley Bridge (fits better than the Scorpion Bridge shown on the pictures) - simple black hardcase
The banjo shows traces in the varnish, but is in very good condition for its age. The edge of the resonator had a small crack which was repaired with hide glue. The instrument was completely cleaned and reassembled with a new skin, bridge and strings. The string action was optimized. The sound is rich in sustain and very dynamic. The banjo has power! Kapo spikes for the 5th strings can be installed free of charge.
