Description

This is an exceptionally clean and early Samick Masterpiece 5 string Banjo.  This still has the stickers on the back of the headstock and is basically mint with the original case.  This banjo is stunning and includes Gold Plating with an engraved armrest and a hand carved neck heel. This is a STEAL at $1499!!!!  Plus this has a clean original case.

The banjo has a thick maple shell with a curly maple resonator and maple neck.  The neck heel has gorgeous carving which was done by hand and is the same carving as you would find on an Alvarez White Eagle.  The fretboard is ebony with a custom inlay pattern and MASTERPIECE on the neck block. I also believe the fretboard inlay is real pearl, not pearloid.

The headstock also has inlay work that is very different from the newer Samick Masterpieces.  This was only found on the early Masterpiece Banjos.

The hardware is all original and includes an 18 hole tone ring and a 2 piece flange.  All of it is gold plated.  This banjo is absolutely gorgeous and includes a very clean original case.

Condition and Set Up

This banjo is mint outside of a small dent in the finish on the right side of the resonator which is pictured.  I do mean mint.  Like I said even the stickers are still on the headstock and they are mint.  Everything about this banjo is glowing and even the original case is super clean.

This has the original head and I believe the bridge is original as well.  The strings are new and the individual I bought this from told me the 5th string capo was original to this banjo.  I cannot confirm that but in this case that wouldn't surprise me.  This is truly exceptional and priced low for how much quality this delivers.
