SOLD Noah Cline Low-bass 6-string Bottle Gourd Banjo #147 — Sold

Price: $650.00 USD

A bit of a “builder’s choice” banjo, having some things I’ve envisioned and wanted to try. The color schemes kind of fell into place as I worked on it.

Specs:

• 23” fretted scale length A-scale
• Low bass 6-string (five long plus one short)
• 2-piece mahogany neck with 5-piece curly maple veneer and walnut pin stripes
• 1 1/2” nut width, 5/16” string to string spacing
• 9/16” walnut bridge
• one-piece “spike” heel/dowel of the same neck wood
• walnut fretboard and tailpiece
• curly maple and a darker mahogany underlay with peghead overlay of the latter
• copper wire side dots
• Scroll peghead with gourd slice “scroll”/accent
• Pegheds tuning pegs with boxwood buttons
• natural walnut-stained thick goatskin head, covering a single opening on the gourd, with the latter stained natural and finished
• ebony nut and pip
• strap buttons located at the tail end of the dowel and the side of the heel
• currently strung with a set of medium tension classic all-nylguts with a wound fourth from the minstrel set for the additional bass string that’s tuned an octave below the third string, tuned gGDGBD
• can also be tuned up a step to aAEAC#E given the shorter scale length, but a capo might be easier and quicker

Video of me playing June Apple in G on it under “More Info”.
