Whyte Laydie, open back 5-String banjo with hard shell case. I am the original owner of this banjo, which I bought directly from Bart Reiter in the 1970s (SN# 569). The banjo is virtually unplayed; I play my older/less-fancy open back Bart Reiter Whyte Laydie banjo instead. Natural finish; 5/8 inch three-ply laminated maple rim; metal bracket band with 24 brackets and shoes; tortoise plastic binding on inside of rim; rosewood rim cap; 11" Fiberskyn head; Whyte Laydie tone ring; Waverly tailpiece; Vega old time style armrest; curly maple neck bound ebony fret board with 22 frets (RR spike at 7th fret); and scroll, star and dot inlays; laminated ebony peg head with scroll, gryphon and star inlays; geared tuners with pearl buttons; ebony heel cap with thistle inlay.
