For Sale: James Morrison 1882 banjo in great playing condition. SOLD

Price: $800.00 USD

For sale is an early James Morrison banjo in great playing condition. All the bracket hooks and nuts are original and the pearl inlays are complete. The tailpiece is an A. C. Fairbanks, according to Mike Holmes Mugwumps website. I've had this instrument for 45 years mounted only with nylon strings. But a previous owner must have used steel string because there is some wear on the fingerboard and first three frets. The peghead is 3/4" thick and had ebony tuners + the 5th stored in the case. I eventually found a set of long-shaft metal tuners that are still on the banjo. It has a 27" scale, an 11 1/2" pot and a thick calfskin head that may be original. This is a great instrument for a classical or clawhammer player.
