This is a vintage Hohner Artist Banjo that was made during a wonderful period in Japan.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This was made in the 1970's in Japan and this is a phenomenal banjo for the money.  This could be used by an experienced player or this could be the perfect beginner banjo.  This is made with a professional quality design, quality materials and has been set up professionally as well.

This has a multiply maple shell with a mahogany neck and resonator.  The hardware is nickel.  This is all original which includes a 2 piece flange, full size tone ring and a clamshell tailpiece.  This has a rosewood fretboard with diamonds. inlaid along with more inlay on the headstock.  The neck and resonator each have white binding on each side.

This banjo sounds great and also is a fantastic player.  I know serious musicians that use Vintage Japanese Banjos as their main banjo because the value is exceptional on these.  This also includes a very sturdy Crossrock hardshell case.

Condition

This has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse.  We disassembled the banjo and buffed all of the metal with a high powered buffer and waxed all of the wood.  The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled and this banjo looks new!!  The banjo was already in great shape so there aren't a bunch of nicks or dings or much of any sign of use at all.  The back of the resonator does have a hint of button scratching but it's so light it can be hard to see.  The fretboard is clean but the first several frets do have some wear.  There is no functional issue caused by this at all.  There are spikes in frets 6-12.  On top of all of this cleanliness the case is in really good shape as well.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.  This has a new Remo Frosted Head which is set to 90 on a drum dial.  The bridge is a Grover Bridge and the banjo is properly intonated.  This has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely.  This also is adjustable with the truss rod and dual coordinator rods.

This would be a great banjo for anyone and is a great design that was also made well.  The fact that we have cleaned this and set this up has taken it to a place that is extraordinary.  No matter what your experience this banjo can serve a purpose in your arsenal and is absolutely a quality vintage instrument.
