Hatfield Mahogany Custom Buck Creek with upgrades
Price: $2,000.00 USD
Up for sale is my Mahogany Custom Buck Creek purchased by me directly from Arthur in about 2012. It's served me very well and has a deep full tone that comes from way down deep and rings like a bell up the neck.
Upgrades are concentric rings on the resonator, a 12" radius neck which was cut for an 11/16" bridge, and a custom fade/burst finish. Tailpiece is a Kershner.
It's truly a remarkable banjo that I'm not afraid of keeping forever but I haven't played it in over three years since I've gotten back in to Jazz guitar. Price is firm though!
There's some ordinary play wear and frets are serviceable and don't buzz at all. There's a couple small divots on the back of the neck that aren't noticeable to me while playing and are tough to photograph. Nickel has a nice patina just how I like it but of course the new owner can polish it up if they please. The only real issue is about a 1" crack opposite the reso lug (see pics) and it's been completely stable through the years (no suprise really since it's not in a critical area). The banjo shifted during transit and the shoe struck the reso from the inside. This was there when I took delivery of it, thanks USPS :-(
Arthur very graciously offered to make me a brand new resonator but It didn't bother me that much so I talked him out of it. He truly is a gifted builder and he and Beverly are the kindest folks you'll ever work with.
I've greatly enjoyed the 12+ years playing banjo but I'll always be a guitar guy at heart. Trades considered are a Collings I-35, or a 2015+ Gibson 335 '59 Reissue. Cash can flow either way depending on trade.
Shoot me a message if you want more pics or would like to talk further. Also listed on Reverb.
