Robin Smith/Gibson AT 5 String
Price: $3,000.00 USD
Gibson 1928 authentic prewar 40 hole archtop tone ring in a Robin Smith built 5 string. Built in 2011 of beautiful Burl Walnut. Fitted with a custom 8" radiused ebony fretboard with Flying Eagle MOP inlay. (Built to the same specs as Bela Fleck's fretboard). Railroad spikes at 7, 9, and 10. Isaiah 41:10 inlay at the block. Peghead is an elogated Gibson double cut MOP inlay. Prucha double hump tailpiece. Purcell .656 submerged timber birch bridge with 8" radius. The woodsy tone the Burl Walnut gives is unbelievable. This banjo plays like a cadillac and cuts through a jam like a prewar tone ring should. Robin is an internationally known Tennessee luthier and really knows his craft.
Hard shell fiberglass case included.
I ordered this banjo in 2011 but have only played it in a few jams.
