Alvarez Archtop banjo, Japan Built! (Ultimate Archtop tone!)
Price: $950.00 USD
Beautiful 1981 Japanese Built Alvarez 4310 Arch-top 5 string banjo w/case for sale or trade. This is a Whyte Eagle and it was the best and highest priced banjo Alvarez made and they are the mac-daddy of arch top sound!
Folks if your looking for the "Holy Grail" of arch top tone than this banjo is for you. This thing puts out some of the most amazing archtop tone I have ever heard in my 40+ years of being around banjos!
If you want to sound like Ralph Stanley, Doug Dillard or Alan Shelton than you need this banjo in your collection. And not only does it sound amazing but it looks amazing as-well with a nice carved heel, beautiful maple wood, 3 piece neck and Rosewood fingerboard with lots of fancy inlays.
This is a heavy and well made banjo and absolutely rings like a bell and volume-wise shes a "cannon".
You would have to spend at least 3 or 4 thousand dollars to get an arch top banjo that sounds this nice, and good arch top banjos are very scarce and hard to come by!
The tail piece is not original but very high quality and is adjustable up and down or side to side, it also has a nice convenient sliding 5th string capo so you don't have to fool with those little railroad spikes.
This banjo is all nicely setup so you can start playing and enjoying this banjo the second you get it! Theirs a thin shim in where the neck meets the pot so the action is low but if you like a higher action you could remove the shim. The case is just an average Japanese hard-shell in fair condition. Thanks.
I'm willing to sacrifice this wonderful instrument for $950.00 as I am thinning the proverbial "heard". I am also willing to drive and meet half way up to 200+ miles (so if you were 200 miles away we would each drive 100 miles and meet about half way). Or I would be willing to ship in a very well packed, foam filled safe as you can get box with Insurance and tracking for the actual shipping cost. Thanks for looking.
P.S. I am open minded to a possible guitar or mandolin trade (and I don't mind if it needs some work either) but keep in mind I'm selling this banjo cheap for a quick sale so if we were to trade I would want a full value trade for a instrument that's in the 18 To 2k range. But let me know what you have even if its less cause I might still be interested, I wouldn't mind a Kentucky KM-1500 or KM-Dawg mandolin, or a Taylor Dan Crary or nice Larrivee guitar. I don't mind putting a little money into the deal for the right guitar or mandolin either.
