Fred Van Eps Flush Fret (owned by Fred)

Price: $10,000.00 USD

For sale is a rare and historically significant instrument, one of the first two flush fret banjos made by Fred Van Eps. This banjo personally belonged to Fred and was original ly a 6 string. In the mid 50s Fred sold this banjo to George Collins, one of the two founders of the American Banjo Fraternity. Fred converted it to a 5-string by removing the extra tuner and cleanly plugging the hole left by it. The nut was swapped at this time. A previous owner shifted some of the inlays to new positions.
I can share the full provenance with prospective buyers. Original case custom ordered by Van Eps included. I can include an original Van Eps bridge as well and strings in the proper gauges.
