H. C. Nelson 5 String Openback Banjo 1890s
Price: $1,250.00 USD
Circa 1890s H.C. Nelson 5 string openback banjo. Made by J. B. Schall. Nice cherry neck with ebony fingerboard and peghead overlay. Tasteful stars and slotted square inlay on peghead and fingerboard. The dowel stick is stamped "H.C. Nelson N. Evanston, Ill." Spun over rim with interior painted black. The number 23029 is stamped on the interior of the rim next to the dowel stick. Skin head. Beautiful vintage geared tuners with new geared 5th peg. New No-Knot tailpiece. 27" scale. Gig bag included. If you're looking for a great sounding vintage banjo, this one will fit perfectly in your next old-time jam.
**Fingerboard is not scooped. I've never seen a Nelson that wasn't fretted all the way up. I assumed someone pulled the frets at some point and capped the fingerboard.
