2007 Frank Neat Mahogany Style 1 with Blaylock Beartracks tone ring
Price: $2,750.00 USD
Some of the backstory of this banjo appears in a review by a prior owner at banjohangout.org/reviews/searc...edir=true. It shows that Frank Neat originally built this banjo with a prewar tone hoop on a modern Cox maple rim, with Cox reso and FQMS metal parts. The prior owner had Arthur Hatfield replace the tone hoop with a Blaylock Beartracks tone ring, resulting in a loud banjo with dry tone.
The neck and reso are mahogany, and the flat fingerboard appears to be Brazilian rosewood, with style 1 gull wing inlays and capo spikes at 7 and 9. Fiddle cut peghead with inverted tulip inlay. Neck shape has slight V at frets 0-4.
The Neat neck feels fantastic to play. Frank Neat's reputation for great necks is well-deserved. The banjo shows signs of having been played, but its condition overall is excellent. There is moderate wear to a couple of the frets with virtually no wear to most of them, and there are some light scratches on the reso and some clouding on the nickel.
Due to advancing years and arthritis, I have abandoned my (admittedly unrealistic) dreams of banjo glory and decided to sell most of my banjo collection. No trades, please. HSC included.
Shipping: Buyer to pay the cost of insured shipping (estimated at $110 in CONUS)
