Fitch Masters Five Banjo
Price: $1,600.00 USD
Cliff Fitch built this banjo’s fine Masters Five mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and “Flying Eagle” inlays. The banjo features a Cox three-ply maple rim with a Huber Vintage tone ring. The neck has a “speed neck” finish and is really a treat to play. Robin Smith made the beautifully finished, double bound mahogany resonator. All the remaining pot hardware, the flange, tension hoop, coordinator rods, Presto style tailpiece and tension hooks, were made by Jaroslav Prucha in the Czech Republic. As with all Prucha parts, they are very high quality with deep, rich nickel plating. The banjo has Gotoh tuning machines with aged-toned ivoroid buttons, a geared fifth string peg and a 5/8 inch Snuffy Smith Bridge (an old, original one). Spikes have been installed at frets 7, 8 and 9.
The banjo is in excellent shape and has no significant scratches or finish damage. The rim has a small separation on the bottom edge which does not affect the playability or sound (see photo). The action is low and the instrument sounds great. All these top notch components make for a top quality banjo. It was used professionally on stage and in the studio by a previous owner. It will be shipped in the good hard shell case shown.
