1884 Fairbanks & Cole, Good Physical Condition, Needs Parts and Set-up
Price: $555.00 USD
A very old Fairbanks & Cole (serial #4544) that is needy-it needs 9 brackets and nuts, 2 shall diamond-shaped inlays, a tailpiece, and , of course, a bridge and strings. There are no cracks anywhere in the neck or pot. The frets are good but need the edges trimmed. All the hardware has been chrome plated (even before chrome plating was invented). It's a big banjo,12" head and 28" scale. The pot, however, is only 1 3/4" deep, the marquetry is very nice with no chips, dings, or dents.
I bought this banjo 17 years ago (at my asking price) while at the Folk Shop with hopes that I would someday get after it. I won't. I hope it falls in the right hands and will get the care it deserves. After all..it's older than me...or I?
