A new 11" 5 string open back crafted by me in my shop. Pecan and Walnut were used on both the neck and rim. This is banjo build number 40 The banjo is all set up and ready to play. You can hear this banjo played in the clawhammer style by going to my BHO music page and clicking on the old time fiddle tune "Stillhouse". It plays easy and notes true up and down the neck. Neck to pot fit tight and secure. The dowel stick has a 1/4" nut embedded in the 3/4end which screws into a a 1/4" bolt in heel of the neck.

The rim was crafted from 8 pecan blocks with 8 walnut sections for the rim cap. The "fiberskyn" head sits on a 1/4" round steel hoop tone ring. Rim is 9/16" thick and 2 1/2" deep. Metal parts are new and high quality.

The neck is straight and has a "frailing" scoop. New geared planetary tuners make for easy tuning. String action is 3 mm above the 12th fret. The scale is 26 1/4". The fret board width is 1 1/4" at the nut and 1 7/8" at the end. the light gauge metal strings sit on a 9/16" bridge. Fret board and peg head overlay are rosewood with mother of pearl diamonds and position dots. An antique brass motif adorns the peg head.

The banjo weighs in a 6 pounds. There is no case, but the banjo will be packed carefully and shipped insured via USPS retail ground.
