SOLD 1963 Gibson TB-250 Bowtie Conversion
Price: $2,695.00 USD
1963 Gibson TB-250 Conversion
Mahogany neck (w/rosewood board and stainless frets), mahogany resonator (w/original finish), full thickness 3-ply maple rim, one-piece flange, 4-hole archtop tone ring, single co-rod, notched tension hoop, single piece armrest, Presto tailpiece, and Schaller tuners. It's topped off with a Pre-EPA Remo head and Gary Sosebee maple/ebony bridge. All of the hardware is nickel plated, with the exception of the geared 5th peg.
Ron Coleman made the conversion neck, and 4-string guru Vinnie Mondello (4stringbanjos.com) did the finish work. Both did an outstanding job in my opinion. I personally think it's superior to the original Bowtie 5-string necks that I've played.
Non-original parts are: tailpiece, armrest, tension hoop, neck (of course) and tuners.
The banjo is capable of wide range of voices, from deep and low, to high and piercing, depending on your set-up preferences. It's probably the most versatile raised head banjo I've ever owned, and I've had a few more than I care to admit. :^)
Asking $2695 + shipping. PayPal is accepted. Cashier's check or bank money order preferred.
Note: I no longer have the original tenor neck, case, or tuners.
