Gibson Mastertone 5 String Banjo

Price: $2,000.00 USD

Gibson Mastertone-Style 5-String Banjo – Vintage Family Collection – Beautiful Instrument

Offered for sale is a Gibson-branded Mastertone-style five-string banjo from my late father’s personal collection.

My father was an avid banjo player, collector, and enthusiast who enjoyed restoring instruments and converting four-string tenor banjos into five-string banjos. This instrument was part of his treasured collection and has been in our family for many years.

The banjo features a Gibson-branded headstock and traditional Mastertone-style construction and detailing. It is a beautiful instrument with the classic appearance associated with vintage bluegrass banjos.

We have limited information regarding its exact manufacturing date, original components, and conversion history. We believe my father converted this instrument from a four-string tenor to a five-string banjo.

The banjo was recently examined in person by someone knowledgeable about banjos, who estimated its value at approximately $1,800–$2,000 and indicated that it was not a pre-war instrument. This is an informal estimate, not a certified appraisal or authentication.

We are selling this instrument as part of our late father’s collection. Because we are not banjo experts, we encourage serious buyers and collectors to carefully review all photographs and ask any questions before purchasing.
