OME Trilogy 19-Fret Tenor Banjo – 12” Rim, Curly Maple, OHSC – Free Shipping - Used

Price: $2,799.00 USD

A stunning, handcrafted OME Trilogy 19-fret open-back tenor banjo in excellent/mint condition. Built by the legendary OME shop in Boulder, Colorado, this instrument blends world-class artistry with an incredibly rare and desirable spec sheet. You don't see banjos like this very often with a 12" rim and this is a great opportunity to obtain a great sounding and playing tenor banjo.
The Woods & Aesthetics
This Trilogy model features a premium curly maple neck and a matching curly maple rim. The tiger-stripe flame figuring in the wood is absolutely gorgeous and perfectly complemented by OME’s iconic, understated mother-of-pearl inlays and an elegant, bound fingerboard. The hand-rubbed varnish finish allows the wood to breathe and resonate fully.
The Setup & Tone
Unlike common 11-inch models, this banjo boasts a 12-inch rim. Combined with the curly maple construction, it delivers a uniquely warm, woody, and bass-rich tone with plenty of punch and articulation. The fiberskin head adds additional warmth and provide rounder notes to the player. It introduces the plunky sound that is found on real skin heads.
Current Setup: It is currently strung and tuned with standard/jazz tenor strings (C-G-D-A).
Irish Traditional Music Potential: Because of the 12” rim and 19-fret scale, this is the ultimate holy grail setup for Irish players looking to convert to G-D-A-E tuning. A simple string swap will turn this into a deep, plunky, and incredibly powerful session machine.
Condition & Accessories
The banjo has been meticulously cared for, showing minimal to no fret wear and only shows one small scratch on the back of the neck. See photograph. You can barely feel it with your fingers. It can easliy be buffed out by any professional repair person. It plays effortlessly up and down the neck with low, comfortable action. New strings have been put on this banjo. Included in the sale is the original TKL deluxe hardshell case, which fits the 12" rim perfectly and is in equally excellent condition.
