1920 Vega Tubaphone No. 9

Price: $7,500.00 USD

1920 Vega Tubaphone No. 9! Serial Number 45097.
Made in Boston, MA • Original hard shell case
A superb original example of the legendary Fairbanks/Vega Tu-Ba-Phone #9, widely regarded as the benchmark open-back 5-string banjo for over a century. Built on an 11" rim with a 27" scale, it delivers the classic, powerful Tu-Ba-Phone tone that few vintage or modern banjos can match.
This high-grade model features elaborate engraved pearl inlay, carved heel, ebony fingerboard, bracket-band rim, and the iconic Tu-Ba-Phone tone ring. The shaded maple finish appears original, with only light, honest wear consistent with age. Matching serial numbers confirm this is an original 5-string, not a conversion.
Excellent playability and exceptional sound. Includes the original hard shell case.

A rare, beautiful, and world-class vintage banjo!
