Price: $6,250.00 USD
*PB-3 F.O.N. 9264-1 *Prewar PB/5-String "Red Line" Case *Original 40-Hole Tone Ring *Prewar Pick Guard with lots of case candy. This 1929 Gibson Style 3 Plectrum owned by Hank Penny was converted to a 5-string about 25 years ago with a Randy Wood maple neck and Hopkins arch-top to flathead tone ring. Hank Penny was a Western Swing music perfomer from the 1930's for several decades and this PB-3 belonged to him. Hank's daughter Sydney was the young girl "Megan Wheeler" in Clint Eastwood's Pale Rider and is still active today. The F.O.N. 9264-1 is present in the resonator and on the rim of this PB-1. The original plectrum neck is still with this banjo and the original Grover "pancake" tuners are present on the neck made by Randy Wood. Also with this banjo is the original 40-hole tone ring, arm rest, wrench, hide head, pick guard and mounting brackets, bridge, mutes, etc. and ALSO remains in its original "Red Line" case. The banjo has a "Fults 1934" tailpiece and Hopkins conversion ring allowing the rim and label to remain un-cut. This a rare complete package with plenty of history and authenticity.
