The "Ceres" Maple Gold Jim Britton/Sullivan w/VIDEO
Price: $5,600.00 USD
The Ceres model in maple is available exclusively at Ceres Banjo Works. This maple banjo is in the classic flathead Mastertone style of yesteryear. The basic presentation of this banjo is a curly maple neck with a beautiful maple veneer on the back of the peghead to match the resonator which has curly maple sides. I chose the "gold" pearl for the inlay on the brazilian fretboard and of course "Ceres" is inlaid in the Mastertone block. The Ceres has Rickard Cyclone 10:1 tuners and 5th string spikes at frets 7-10. The pot consists of beautiful Prucha hardware with a brushed gold finish. The rim is made of air-dried 3-ply maple and only weighs a little over 14 ounces making for an extremely responsive instrument. With the Ceres banjo a new 20-hole tone ring is coming to the market. After playing all of the modern tone rings available and many of the prewar Gibson flathead tone rings I've put together the things I liked between a 1929 and 1931 flathead from Gibson to create the Ceres ring. These rings are stamped "CERES" underneath along with a serial number. Thanks for looking! Here's a YouTube video of this banjo: youtube.com/watch?v=FbDTX65s410
