SOLD 1980s Gold Star G12 HF

Price: $1,300.00 USD

Like many of us, I have a lot of fondness for the Gold Stars of the 1970s and 80s. My college roommate got to hear me mangle Bugle Call Rag on a GF-100 HF for hours upon hours (sorry Ben) and while I don’t own that banjo anymore, it’s always fun to get to visit with its relatives when they come though.

We don’t know what exact year this banjo was made in because the rim was replaced by the Rigel mandolin workshop in Vermont. The rims on the vintage archtop Gold Stars were notorious for disintegration, so it makes sense that a replacement rim would be installed. The maple resonator and neck are in quite nice condition, and the rosewood fingerboard has a fresh set of frets from Casey Sullivan.

There is a small hole in the back of the peghead. No idea why but figured a potential buyer should know about it.

Sounds like a good archtop should and plays really well. Ships in a non original Golden Gate case.

Thanks for looking and please reach out with any questions.
