2001 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard

Price: $4,000.00 USD

A remarkably well preserved example of this model. This banjo has the Maple rim, resonator, and neck with ebony fretboard and peghead overlay typical of the Earl Scruggs Standard. The all hardware is nickel plated and is in nearly new condition. The tailpiece is a modern replacement Presto, but otherwise all hardware is original.

This banjo is so well cared for I didn’t even have to clean it, which I do to nearly all banjos I offer for sale.

The banjo was definitely played as there is moderate fret wear in the first position, but its previous caretakers definitely treated it with remarkable respect. There’s some rash from L Bracket contact on the front edge of the resonator in some spots, but otherwise there are hardly any scratches or scrapes.

The weirdest thing I’ve noticed about this banjo is that the nut is significantly taller on the bass side than the treble side. This doesn’t affect playability at all as the slots are all cut appropriately, it’s just a weird quirk from either the factory or someone getting in over their head in a set up.

Currently set up with a Sullivan .656 bridge.

Comes shipped in its like new Gibson branded case and includes some original paperwork.

Thanks for looking and please reach out with any questions.
