John Bowlin project banjo

Price: $700.00 USD

If anyone is contacting me I’m not getting messages from bho

Hi all

For sale is a banjo from the late Mr John Bowlin
The way I heard it, was during construction, he started having issues with his hands, and couldn’t finish and later passed away
This is described as a “one off” piece, being that there is no other, that im aware of
Mr Bowlin was quite celebrated as the maker of the 1865 banjo model line, which he retired from making
This banjo I would describe a more of a Vega-ish banjo
It sports the following
Edit- I roughly measured and scale length is just about 25.5, again I don’t know if neck is glued in and not set up but that’s the neighborhood
12 inch maple rim, maple neck, ebony fingerboard. Scale length not 100 sure on, since not finished could rough estimate I suppose

Banjo needs the following that I know of
- fret install, finger board already slotted
-dowel stick brace
-dowel may or may not be glued into neck, I’ve handled banjo and carried it and never noticed any looseness or wobble, but it could just be a very secure fit, since I learn that I no longer handle it in that fashion
-bridge
-strings of choice
-banjo finish, neck and rim, tung oil perhaps ?
-tail piece of choice

Banjo is currently in banjo form, tension hoops, rolled brass ring, hooks/nuts, fyberskin head, tuners all installed

Banjo is in very very good condition, I wasn’t sure how to rate for ad since it’s still needing work, but what’s there is there

If your aware of these sorts of modifications and fret install I really believe this is a home run, even for someone who is looking to upgrade or get into it and doesn’t know how to do work, I believe you would still come out ahead with a USA built open back for a very decent cost

Now the nitty gritty price is 700. Not 600, not 650, not will you trade for this, not anything, it’s 700 dollars

Banjo will ship in a superior gig-bag

Shipping I’m going to charge 150 that seems to be the norm now, if it’s under you will get difference back
