Gariepy No IX
Price: $2,000.00 USD
Up for sale is a Gariepy No. IX! Selling it because it was given to me years ago and since I am a tenor player, I no longer need it taking up space. The banjo is made of rosewood. It has a wooden rim and a spun brass tone ring that is shaped like something you might find in a Bacon banjo. The hardware is gold plated and heavily engraved. The instrument has fancy purfling all around, an ornately carved heel, and scalloped frets that match the scalloped tension hoop. The resonator features a trio of wooden roses inlaid into it. It's a nice instrument! There are some minor issues to report (see photos). Inside the case (which is original), there is a built in bit of strapping that says "Conqueror" that has imprinted into the finish to go with the minor bit of buckling at the center of the resonator veneer. In addition, the metal plate that's part of the dowel stick attachment assembly is missing and the dowel stick attachment screw has pushed up the wooden cap there slightly. It also has Grover "guitar-style" tuners – I don't know if those are original. (For those of you keep track of these things, yes, this is the same banjo I posted in the Gariepy group a few months ago.) Buyer pays actual shipping. (No trade offers, please, just looking to sell – sorry!) Please reach out with any questions or requests for more pictures!
