SOLD (SOLD) Billybilt Tiger Maple Openback with 13" pot

Price: $875.00 USD

I bought this banjo about a year ago from Bill, with grand intentions to add clawhammer style to my repertoire... and it just hasn't happened for me, been an awkward uphill battle! Truth is I'm still finding my way around the Scruggs-style approach, and until I see some light at the end of that tunnel I don't see myself investing the time needed to really work on clawhammer, and as a result don't play this one much.

It's in the same condition i received it in, played very little. The pot assembly is from the late 1800's or early 1900's and the stainless steel outer shell is in great condition. Approx 10 hooks and nuts are not original. The goatskin head, 13" pot assembly and chunky neck give it a loud, deep/mellow voice. I currently have a tall Snuffy Smith bridge on it to brighten it up a bit (more a function of me being stuck on that 5-string resonator sound), but will include several beefier Billybilt bridges which really amp up the lows and are perhaps better suited to the clawhammer approach.

No issues -- stays in tune perfectly and the action is just right for my tastes (admittedly I can't speak to the expectations of a seasoned clawhammer player, but it can be adjusted higher/lower as per your needs)... The flamed maple neck is a beauty -- but again, it's pretty beefy compared to my 5-string resonators so make sure that's your thing.

Posted price includes free shipping within the continental US and I will eat the PayPal fees. Local pickup/cash is fine as well. I believe i'm offering it up at a very fair price (considering it's barely been played), so please, no lowball offers... Not interested in any trades at this time, as I need to recoup some banjer money spent elsewhere, you know how that goes... :-)
